| Cannon Charters was established in 2003 by NSW businessman, Brian Hanlon. Mr Hanlon is very familiar with the Northern Territory 's Top End and Kimberley Region as he has traveled extensively throughout the region since 1988. It was during this time he recognised the need for a magnificent Mothership offering a five-star adventure holiday like no other.
The MV Cannon was built in 2002 and launched in 2003. The MV Cannon is a 75ft Westcoaster charter vessel specialty built to work throughout the Northern Territory. The set up allows for guests to have everything needed for a week long venture and if fishing is slow in one location, simply move onto the next. Flexibility is one of the key attributes of the MV Cannon.
Since launching the MV Cannon, Cannon Charters has become very popular amongst fishing enthusiasts, explorers and corporate groups.
Cannon Charters is unique and sets itself apart from other fishing tour operators as it is designed to cater for smaller groups. During each trip we take six professional crew and eight guests. This customer to crew ratio ensures our guests receive the very best experience possible. A higher level of active customer participation is made possible by this level of personalised service.
Brett Hayes was the Captain of the MV Cannon for over four years, finishing up in 2009 for a lifestyle change. Brett was an excellent Skipper who was passionate about fishing, boats and ensuring our customers satisfaction. Brett's attention to detail and maintenance quality ensured our customers received A1 tours.
In January 2009, Robin Croxson was appointed Captain of the MV Cannon.
Robin has an extensive background in the fishing and marine industry including Skippering several vessels nationally and internationally. Robin also entered a joint partnership in distributing seafood and other gourmet products within Australia . Robin has worked training crews in effective methods of fish catching and handling around South Africa and also carried out several ship refits. It is with this great experience that we know Robin is the right man for the job. I'm sure that you'll agree as soon as you board the MV Cannon under his command.
Cannon Charters head office is situated in Bomaderry (NSW South Coast) where our Marketing and Development Consultant Tanya Knowles sees to all booking requirements. Tanya has been with the company now for over three years, her experience and people skills will ensure our customer's booking and trip expectations are met.
Cannon Charters has been accreditated with the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program since 2006 and are dedicated to providing a high level of customer service and professionalism throughout the operation.
In 2007, Cannon Charters won the Northern Territory Brolga Tourism Award for excellence in the category of Adventure Tourism and then went onto represent the Northern Territory as a finalist in the 2007 Australian Tourism Awards. Winning a Brolga award is the industry's highest accolade and the recipients represent the best products and services in the Northern Territory. The team at Cannon Charters are absolutely thrilled to have achieved this accolade.
In 2008, Cannon Charters took out the Northern Territory Brolga Tourism Award for excellence in the category of Adventure Tourism for the second year in a row. It certainly goes to show that the team are doing something right!
